Environmental limits and Swiss footprints based on Planetary Boundaries

The aim of this research is to create suggestions for a specific range of limits on resource usage for a Green Economy. These limits are determined by adapting the environmental boundaries of our planet, known as « Planetary Boundaries, » to the Swiss consumption context. The proposed limit values provide a general guideline for sustainable resource consumption based on scientific perspectives. However, it is important to note that these values are not intended to be directly implemented as political targets.

This research has been conducted in collaboration with UNIGE and UNEP/GRID, on behalf of the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment.
