A new chapter: welcoming Arnaud Dauriat as managing director
We’re excited to share that Arnaud Dauriat is joining Earth Action as managing director this August. After years of collaboration, Arnaud brings decades of experience in sustainability consulting, team leadership, and life cycle thinking to help us scale with care and clarity.
In our latest blog post, we share why this moment matters, what it means for Earth Action moving forward, and Arnaud’s own reflections on leadership, purpose, and staying close to the work.

New rules, real proof: plastic claims under pressure
Recent regulatory developments in Canada and the EU are raising the bar on recyclability and plastic-related claims. Canada’s newly published anti-greenwashing guidance now requires companies to prove environmental statements like “100% recyclable” with real-world, local evidence. In the EU, similar scrutiny is growing. This month, we unpack what these changes mean for businesses—and how tools like plastic footprinting, Plasteax, and the upcoming Packaging Data Hub can help companies stay ahead by aligning packaging claims with actual system performance.

The Plasteax model: A top-down mass balance approach
EA’s Plasteax database tackles the urgent need for plastic packaging waste data through an innovative model-based approach. Instead of relying on incomplete primary data collection, Plasteax uses mathematical modeling that combines reliable production and trade data with waste management insights to create comprehensive secondary data.
This mass-balance method ensures consistency across countries and packaging types while providing the information businesses and governments need to meet their ambitious reduction commitments.

From UNOC to INC5.2: Building momentum for a Global plastics Treaty
At the UN Ocean Conference in Nice, more than 90 countries endorsed a strong declaration calling for an ambitious Global Plastics Treaty. From Extended Producer Responsibility to science-driven standards and transparency, Earth Action highlights the key elements that must be embedded in the treaty text. With INC5.2 in Geneva fast approaching, our new blog explores how the momentum from Nice can help push the negotiations over the finish line.

Shaping the future of plastics in Geneva
Earth Action will be in Geneva for the final round of Global Plastics Treaty negotiations, August 5–14. Founder and co-CEO Julien Boucher and Plastic Footprint Network coordinator Charlotte Stalder will be on site, advocating for strong, science-based outcomes.
