LEADING mission driven research consultancy, EA Earth Action, has today welcomed Irene Hofmeijer as Partner to support the firm in its international advocacy work.
Irene joins EA Earth Action with over 10 years of experience in both local and international development, as well as advancing circular economy practices with triple bottom line value.
With previous experience as Global Associate Director at South Pole, Irene will lead a global team of experts on plastic pollution, as well as developing EA Earth Action’s advisory services to both North European and Latin American markets.
Irene previously founded Life Out Of Plastic (LOOP) whilst working in the Peruvian Amazon on climate change adaptation research with Indigenous communities. LOOP is a women-led social enterprise that has been mobilising citizens to take action on plastic pollution in Peru since 2011.
This new appointment comes as EA Earth Action this week launched its new report on “Moving Towards Outcomes-Based Financial Mechanisms for Waste Prevention”, detailing how outcomes-based financing can be utilised to accelerate plastic pollution mitigation.
Last year, EA Earth Action launched the Plastic Footprint Network, and have worked collaboratively with over 35 organizations and 100 experts and plastic footprint practitioners to harmonise and update the methodology to assess the corporate plastic footprint.
Irene will work with the Plastic Footprint Network to advocate for circular plastic management ahead of this year’s Plastic Overshoot Day launch, as well as facilitating conversations with international governments and organisations at INC4.
Sarah Perreard, Co-CEO and Stakeholder Engagement Lead, said: “EA Earth Action is at exciting point in our growing advocacy work, and we are delighted to welcome Irene to further bolster our team of research led experts and consultants.
“At EA, we believe a core responsibility is empowering individuals to make a positive impact on the world. We are excited for Irene to utilise her experience in creating triple bottom-line value initiatives as part of EA Earth Action’s mission-driven consultancy work.”
Irene Hofmeijer, Partner, EA Earth Action shared that she is “thrilled to be joining EA Earth Action to best support their remarkable research and functional contributions, particularly in plastic footprinting methodology and modelling micro/macro plastic pollution.
“I will be working closely with the wider team to help transform complex circular management strategies into actionable plans that lead to meaningful change through international co-operation.”
